Emblematic of Sardinia, Carasau bread is thin, crispy slices of toasted bread, almost transparent. It is nicknamed "music paper" because of the sound it makes when bitten into. In ancient times, shepherds took this bread, prepared by their wives, with them to spend long months in the mountains, far from home. It can be enjoyed as an aperitif, with cheese or cold cuts.
